Barberstown Castle is a luxurious 4-star hotel located on the outskirts of Straffan village in Co. Kildare. Nestled in 20-acres of surrounding gardens, this was one of the first great Irish country houses to display its splendor to the outside world when it opened its doors as a hotel in 1971. Eight centuries after it was constructed and the elegance of the design remains blended beautifully with its Victorian and Elizabethan extensions to the original Castle. The Castle has had an incredible 37 owners, all of whom have protected and loved its heritage and character.

The 55 bedrooms in Barberstown showcase the Castle’s history with the heritage of the hotel’s original buildings mirrored. Each room is named after a previous Castle owner from Nicholas Barby in 1288, to the legendary guitarist, Eric Clapton in 1979. Each room is uniquely decorated and contains stunning antique furniture. You can choose from Superior Bedrooms, Four Poster Bedrooms or Junior Suites.

The Barton Room offers an exceptional dining experience in an opulent Victorian and Elizabethan setting, now the restaurant. It is open on Friday and Saturday nights and features Irish County House dining with a French influence. Head Chef Bertrand Malabar uses fresh, local and organic ingredients throughout his menus. Furthermore, if a group would prefer private dining, the unique settings and renowned menus of The Elizabethan Dining Suite or The Castle Keep, both historic and significant settings in their own right, can be used.

The Garden Bar is a more contemporary setting and as well as a distinguished drinks menu enjoy a Tasting Plate Menu available every day.

Barberstown Castle is ideally located only 30 minutes from Dublin Airport and has many fabulous golf courses right on its doorstep, including the 2006 Ryder Cup venue The K Club. If guests need some retail therapy, the Kildare Village Designer Outlet and Newbridge Silverware Visitor Centre & Style Icons Museum are close by.
