Vaughan Lodge

"The Vaughan family knows how to look after golfers."

Ennis, Co. Clare, Ireland

Located a mere stone’s throw from the world-famous Lahinch Golf Club, Vaughan Lodge is a family run boutique hotel run by the 4th generation of the Vaughan Family. The family have been steeped in hospitality in the Lahinch area since the early 1920’s when Michael (the current owner’s Great Grandparent), opened a property on Main Street in the town. Vaughan Lodge opened its doors in 2005 and Michael, who has been ensconced in one or other aspect of the hospitality industry pretty much all of his life, manages the day-to-day running of the Lodge with his wife, Maria.

There are 30 spacious bedrooms available at Vaughan Lodge with an average size of 30 sq meters. The rooms are perfect for golfers and leisure travelers alike. What we at The Consummate Pro like about the rooms at Vaughan Lodge, is, everything that you ‘really’ need for a stay, works. The beds all have super comfortable King Koil mattresses, there are good Wi-Fi and Broadband connections throughout the property, the showers blow you away, and there are multiple charging points, including USA compatible ports, USB points, and iPhone docking alarm clocks. The beds have decent reading lights, and there is a good-sized work desk for those that need to keep their businesses on the road. Bedroom décor is crisp and functional with a touch of class. What more could you ask for?

The VL Restaurant on the property is a 2 AA Rosette winning restaurant and has picked up a variety of good food awards from various organizations, recognizing the quality of its food. The restaurant offers a superb fine dining experience where the service matches the cuisine. There is an ample supply of fish and seafood right on their doorstep, so it is never a surprise to find Bream, Sole, Lobster, Langoustine, Scallops, Turbot, Halibut and John Dory on the menu. That said, if you give Michael and Head Chef Pavel a day’s notice, they’ll pretty much source anything you want for the following evening. Whether it is meat, fish, poultry or game, everything is sourced locally, and everything has Irish provenance. A thoughtful wine list is available to accompany any dish on the menu, and we highly recommend a reservation is made, as VL is as popular with the locals in the village as it is with visiting golfers.

The Vaughan family knows how to look after golfers, they should do, they get lots of them, so you know you are going to be in excellent hands when you walk through the doors to be greeted by Michael and Maria. If you need anything special, they are always at hand. We cannot recommend Vaughan Lodge highly enough for anyone on a golf vacation to Ireland.
