Adare Manor is an award-winning five-star hotel and golf resort in the village of the same name, in Co Limerick, Ireland, only 30-minutes from Shannon Airport. The golf course is set in the grounds of the beautiful Manor House Hotel, providing it with a stunning backdrop and setting from the beginning. The course closed for two years, at the same time as the Manor was completely refurbished and reopened in April 2018, when the complete reconstruction project was unveiled to the world. The masterpiece that is Adare Manor comes from Tom Fazio and his team of design experts and has set a new level in Irish golf design and maintenance. The new course has been created to marry with its beautiful natural surroundings, and nothing has been left to chance. It has already been called the ‘Augusta National’ of Ireland.
This re-design was no mean feat, with 220,000 ton of sand used on site and over 6,600 square meters of bunkers created to frame the perfectly manicured fairways and pristine greens. The course is one of only three in the UK & Ireland where all 18 greens benefit from a SubAir Aeration System.
Although all holes are in the same order as the original course, each green and tee has been rebuilt and re-designed from scratch, with significant underground installations for drainage, new irrigation, and water delivery systems. From the stunning tee boxes that roll like greens to the white sand bunkers to the phenomenal, world-class green complexes no corners have been cut. What has been cut, and is daily, is every piece of grass on the course. There is no severe rough at Adare; it is all one level, hence the Augusta parallels. The golfer should be able to find and play their ball from everywhere on the course, with the severest challenges encountered between from 80 yards in.
The clubhouse has also had a stunning upgrade, with not one degree of luxury or practicality being overlooked. The Carriage House is a classy, serene space to hang out, housing a comprehensively stocked Pro Shop, elegant locker rooms, a world-class restaurant, lively bar, covered terrace with a panoramic view and a Snug Cigar Lounge. Each area has been meticulously designed and finished exquisitely.
