The Ten Square Hotel is located in the heart of Belfast, directly behind Belfast City Hall. Opened in 2000, it has recently been refurbished and extended when the owners bought the building adjacent to Yorkshire House. That original part of the hotel holds 23 bedrooms in what is a Grade I listed building. Yorkshire Houses’ construction in 1862 means that it pre-dates Belfast City Hall. It was initially part of a row of Georgian terrace houses, has three stories, nine bay frontages, and some beautifully carved architectural details. The most recent development added 108 contemporary bedrooms to bring the total up to 131 guestrooms.
The property offers a range of accommodation types including Classic, Deluxe, and Suites. Classic rooms provide Super King sized beds, extremely comfortable memory foam mattresses, overhead rain showers, complimentary Wi-Fi and the very latest in in-room entertainment systems. Finally, the hotel has several unique Suites, the finest of which is the Jaffa Penthouse Suite, named after Sir Otto Jaffe, the German-born Jewish businessman who brought Northern Ireland’s linen business to the world in the early 1900s. This 900 square foot suite affords guests some of the best views in the city. A luxurious space that is the perfect setting in which to relax, it also offers a further 800 square feet of space by way of a rooftop balcony that is ideal for entertaining up to forty additional guests. The penthouse and terrace directly overlook City Hall, where Jaffe himself was twice elected Lord Mayor.
Those looking for excellent food and beverage don’t have far to go in Ten Square. The Jospers’ Steakhouse is named after the unique Spanish charcoal oven upon which all of the restaurant’s meats are seared, flavored and beautifully cooked. Whether it is Ribeye or Sirloin, Strip or Fillet, the Josper is the best way to cook fabulous flavourful steaks. The Doffer Bar on the ground floor is an incredible place for cocktails, cask ales and local brews within beautiful surroundings. Sports fans are well catered for in the Doffer with big screen sports a staple. The décor is oldie world liquor saloon with dark leather high back chairs and leatherettes, giving the bar an air of luxury — the perfect place to lose yourself of an afternoon.
Finally, on the 7th floor of the hotel, you will find The Loft, the place to see and be seen in the city, directly overlooking Belfast City Hall. Ideal for cocktails, afternoon teas, fine wines and champagnes, the Loft is a stylish contemporary bar that is the perfect place to start or end a night.
