Situated on the outskirts of St Andrew’s within 10 acres of award-winning gardens, Rufflets House is a magical place to stay. Family owned since 1952, the private home was transformed into a Country House hotel and is owned by the same family today, ensuring that your stay is full of ambiance and charm, where you are treated as one of the family. All of the bedrooms are different adding to the charm and homeliness of this turreted mansion. There are 23 individually styled rooms, and stairs access bedrooms within the main house to the first and second floors with ground floor rooms available in the Gatehouse and Rufflets Lodge. All of the bedrooms include digital TV and pod dock, complimentary wi-fi, hairdryers, iron and trouser press, robes, Molton Brown toiletries, tea, coffee, and Rufflet’s famous shortbread and mineral water. Room types include Gatehouse, Standard Rooms, Classic Rooms, Family Rooms, Superior Rooms, Suites, and Turret Rooms.

The Gatehouse was redesigned and upgraded in 2017. This flexible accommodation comprises of one fully accessible ground floor Suite with a separate sitting room and luxury bathroom, and a second spacious en-suite bedroom, perfect for golfing groups. There are two bright Standard Rooms, furnished to the same high specification as the Classic Rooms. All Classic Rooms are located in the main house and vary in size. They are decorated in a contemporary style, using feature wallpapers and fabrics in bold colors to complement the most traditional furniture.

There are three superior rooms all with their own individual style and character. One of these has a unique seating area in the roof tower, with two large skylight windows offering beautiful views over the gardens with traditional decor with a free-standing bath. There are two spacious suites; The Gilroy Suite named after the original owner of Rufflets House which is located between the two turrets at the front of the house and The Orchard Suite occupying the east wing of Rufflets Lodge. All decor is of the highest standard with every attention to detail is covered.
The Turret rooms unique feature is a separate seating area created within the turret itself. One of these rooms is a famous golfer’s favorite – Jack Nicklaus, who has stayed in Rufflets on every occasion he has played in St. Andrews. The glitzy Zoffany wallpaper in silver and white contrasts with the deep purple soft furnishings and traditional furniture.
Rufflets St Andrews also offers a choice of three-holiday lodges which can be found within the hotel grounds. These are ideal for small golfing groups seeking the privacy and relaxed informality of home, but with the facilities of a four-star hotel on the doorstep.
Food and drink are a significant aspect of the Rufflets experience, with Seasons Restaurant and the Bar & Lounge on offer. Seasons is located within the main house at Rufflets, overlooking the beautiful award-winning gardens. Head chef David Kinnes draws inspiration from the different seasons when creating his menus. He imaginatively combines home-grown as well as fresh market produce to enhance the natural flavors of his food, and creates some masterful rustic dishes.
The restaurant’s decor is inspired by nature, and the interior connects perfectly with the outdoors. Natural fabrics and textures, combined with leafy wall art and mirrors have been used to a significant effect on soft furnishings and comfortable booth seating. The bay window is the focal point of the room which cleverly showcases the gardens and delivers an unforgettable dining experience.

Rufflets Bar is home to over 100 malt whiskeys and 40 gins, many originating from Scotland. The ambiance is perfect, with a roaring fire and double doors onto the lawn, the bar works in all seasons, and all weather! There is also a lounge menu with a wide choice of lighter dishes served throughout the day and evening.
