Palé Hall

"The remoteness is magical, and it feels like something straight out of a movie set."

Pale Estate, Snowdonia, Wales

Palé Hall is an independently owned Country House hotel and restaurant on the fringes of Snowdonia National Park in Wales. Owners Alan and Angela Harper have designed and decorated the mansion impeccably which sits on fifty-acres of grounds. The remoteness is magical, and it feels like something straight out of a movie set, surrounded by broody mountains and majestic forest.

Palé Hall is an AA Five Red Star Relais & Chateaux property and has a majestic and remarkably well-preserved sense of style. There are eighteen bedrooms, each one with a different style and mood, all luxuriously indulgent in their own right. Rooms are Classic, Turret, Grand Master and Superior. Zoffany and Sanderson wallpapers and paintings including Snowdonia artist Rob Reen all add to the drama.

The Dolbarden Room, a Grand Master room, has stunning views across the walled garden and the Dee Valley. It houses an impressive carved wardrobe and a large marble bathroom with slipper bath and wet room shower. Amenities are plentiful and include a king size bed, luxury toweling bathrobes, a complimentary Madeira decanter, bottled water, a mirrored smart TV with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth access.
The suites are in a class of their own, and the Churchill Suite resembles an unturned ship with a vaulted wooden ceiling inlaid with stained glass windows. The four-poster bed and marble bathroom with a copper bateau bath is simply stunning.

Head Chef Gareth Stevenson ensures that all guests enjoy exquisite food throughout their time at Palé Hall. Gareth’s style has evolved during his time at the hotel and is an expression of his unique vision, creativity, and skills. You will discover the finest foods from the region which are always fresh, seasonal and naturally delicious. The main dining room is a formal and the menu is loaded with Welsh ingredients such as lamb, black beef, game, fish, and cheese are all to be expected. Breakfast involves freshly squeezed juices, fruits, pastries, charcuterie, and Welsh cooked to order plates.

Private dining is an experience which is exceptional here as you get to sit down with the chef and choose your meal and pick your wine with the Sommelier. There are several different dining rooms to choose from for the experience such as the Venice room, which used to be the original kitchen. It is now a theatrical Venetian theme with the original range still in situ. This is a magical room seating up to eighteen people with an antique copper glow and crystal chandeliers. Alternatively, The Henry Robertson dining room seats up to forty for a banquet and is a grand room with ornate plaster ceilings and grand fireplaces.
