Old Course Hotel

Directly above the 17th green of the Old Course

St. Andrews, Scotland

A prestigious AA Five Red Star awarded Hotel, The Old Course Hotel has a total of 144 rooms including 35 suites and is situated overlooking the 17th fairway of the Old Course. In fact, if you have ever watched The Open at St. Andrew’s you will undoubtedly have noticed how players aim their tee shot on that hole, over the “o” in the word Hotel on the wall in front of them, said to be the perfect line to find the fairway!
There is a variety of room types with classically elegant and contemporary interiors in the Old Course Hotel. French designer Jacques Garcia has designed many of the suites in the property to an exacting standard. The Eden Parkland rooms, for example, use tactile textures as a nod to Scotland’s rich heritage in the textile sector. A touch of glamour is added with gold antique style lamps and traditional golfing images adorning the walls, reminding you that you are indeed in the ‘Home of Golf.’

The Eden Suites are spacious rooms with fabric lined walls, a wood and leather sleigh bed, a sofa (sofa bed) and a coffee table. Tall windows provide spectacular views overlooking the surrounding countryside, and The Old Course rooms are similar in style to the Eden Suites but besides, provide a bird’s eye view of the world’s most famous golf course.

Directly above the 17th green of the Old Course are the Old Course Suites. These include private balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows with direct panoramic views of the Old Course and the Royal and Ancient Clubhouse, the historic town of St Andrew’s and the Fife coastline.
The Fairway Suites are an excellent contrast to the Old Course Suites with a real contemporary feel. These are housed in the Millennium Wing of the resort which opened in 2000. Every Fairway Suite has a private balcony with a breathtaking view of the Old Course and the Fife coastline. There is a spacious separate lounge containing a WC and a mini-kitchen, a larger kitchen and a large bathroom. The Deluxe Suites house red double arched entrances with marble floors. The vibrant color palette continues throughout with striped cream sofa, a red and black velvet chaise lounge and rich tones throughout. An open fire and balcony complete the luxurious ambiance.

Finally, the Royal & Ancient Suite situated above the famous 17th fairway is one of Scotland’s finest rooms offering the best of modern décor and luxury with spectacular views offered along the Old Course to the sea, with its floor-to-ceiling windows and balcony.
St Andrew’s is renowned as ‘The Home of Golf’ with eleven courses in the immediate vicinity and more than thirty others within a half-hour’s drive. The Old Course Hotel is home to its own championship course – The Duke’s. The Duke’s is St Andrew’s only heathland golf course and was also voted No. 87 in the Top 100 UK golf rankings.
The Duke’s demands accuracy and imaginative play as well as a degree of power golf. There are five tee boxes on every hole to ensure that it works for players of all levels.
While at The Old Course Hotel it would be a shame not to indulge at the first KOHLER spa experience outside the USA. Designed by architects Sedley Place, the 25,000sq ft spa facility has thirteen treatment rooms which include two couple’s rooms, two wet treatment rooms with KOHLER bathing experiences, a 20m indoor swimming Spa Pool, a hydrotherapy pool for therapeutic bathing, steam room, experience showers, refreshing ice fountain, cold plunge pool, and sauna. There is also a rooftop garden with hot tub.

On top of all that, you have the beautiful ‘Jigger Inn’ situated within the grounds of the Old Course Hotel, directly adjacent to the 17th fairway. A traditional Scottish watering hole that offers fine whiskey’s, ales, beers and also serves great local food, a visit here is one of the traditions on a golf trip to St. Andrews.
