Meldrum House

Meldrum House truly is a real taste of Aberdeenshire

Aberdeen, Scotland

Nestled in the heart of the Aberdeenshire countryside yet only a few miles from the bustling city of Aberdeen, you will come across Meldrum House, a 13th Century Baronial House situated within a 240-acres estate. This substantial, granite property, complete with spires, turrets and a grand external staircase, is breathtaking.

Meldrum House has a total of fifty-one bedrooms spread across three areas; the main Baronial Manor House, the Converted Stables and a new and contemporary wing of the hotel. The main Baronial Country House has ten unique bedrooms containing antique artifacts from down the generations and a warm décor making these rooms comfortable, relaxing and homely. Log fires, exposed stone walls, antlers, and tartan give a wonderful Scottish authentic feeling to these accommodations.

Adjacent to the Manor House is the Stables. They house thirteen rooms, decorated in a beautiful contemporary Scottish theme which has a contrasting yet complimenting feel to the Manor House. The new wing or the Contemporary Area which opened in June 2016 has eighteen Club and ten Standard rooms. Many of the bedrooms have stunning views of the golf course with floor to ceiling windows soaking in the surroundings. This area is a striking contrast to the rest of the property, with a calming palette of whites, greys, and browns. And a thoroughly modern feel to it.

The Dining Room is a two red rosette award winning Restaurant offering an exceptional dining experience. Fresh, local and in-season ingredients are always used to create unique and delicious meals every time.  A wee dram can be enjoyed in the 800-year-old Cave Bar. With nooks and crannies everywhere and an abundance of character and charm, you could sit in here until the wee hours. One hundred and twenty whiskeys, local ales and cocktails are available in the Cave, with lite bites served between twelve noon and five in the evening.

Meldrum House is home to a private member’s parkland golf course which can also be enjoyed by hotel residents. A variety of teeing areas ensure that the course is a challenge for the more accomplished golfer or leisurely player. The Clubhouse has a luxurious lounge and provides the perfect setting to relax post-round. The upstairs balcony boasts panoramic views over the 1st, 17th, and 18th holes and there is a wonderfully relaxing restaurant and bar to enjoy. There are a well-stocked Pro shop open seven days a week, and if you’re looking to improve your game on your trip, then look no further with excellent Practice Facilities and Teaching Academy on site. Built over 24 acres of mature estate land, the teaching center has twelve contoured greens and eighteen flags, protected by bunkers.

In close proximately to Meldrum House is Glen Garioch Distillery, Haddo House, Pitmedden Gardens and Fyvie Castle. If you want to venture into the bustling city of Aberdeen, then it is only twenty miles away.

Meldrum House truly is a real taste of Aberdeenshire set within a large estate there is no need to leave, but there is much nearby if you do include fantastic golf courses such as Old Meldrum, Kemnay and Inverurie as well as the likes of Cruden Bay, Trump Aberdeen, and Royal Aberdeen Golf Clubs.
