Cork Golf Club

"The fantastic coastal setting and superb layout have, and will, continue to charm visitors for years to come."

Cork, Ireland

Cork Golf Club is located at Little Island, close to Cork City on a tiny peninsula of land which juts out of Lough Mahon, in the estuary of River Lee. Visitors, as a result, enjoy some beautiful views of Cork Harbour throughout their round. The championship course is routed through exceptional terrain, incorporating old limestone quarries and the inner reaches of Cork Harbour.

Initially established in 1888 by a prominent Cork businessman, the club had several locations before it arrived and remained at Little Island. The inaugural professional David Brown and the famous architect Tom Dunn laid out the first nine holes, and then in 1927, the first nine holes and a further nine holes were redesigned and added to by the legendary Dr. Alister MacKenzie, of Augusta National fame.

The championship parkland course measures 6,731 yards and is a Par 71. The signature hole at Cork Golf Club is the 4th, which is exceptionally demanding, embracing the river to create a classic risk and reward hole. Accuracy off the tee is vital, and imagination and precision with your irons equally crucial. There are many tree-lined parkland holes at Cork, while some are open, played along the river and some through the former stone quarry. It is a graceful and mature course with a mixture of beauty, variety, and challenge in equal measures.

The club has played host to major Amateur and Professional Championships over the years, including the Irish Open, Irish Professional Championships, Irish Close Championships, and National Finals.

The Clubhouse is a very comfortable and welcoming space which has a great bar & restaurant that prides itself in using local produce to create delicious dishes. The Professional Shop is well stocked with clubs, buggies and trollies all available for rent coupled with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
