Cabra Castle is set in 100 acres of parkland and gardens with the magnificent backdrop of Duna Ri Forest Park on the outskirts of Kingscourt in Co. Cavan. The Castle, constructed around 1699 is a building of intrinsically significant, historical and architectural interest and value. There are currently 105 bedrooms and six charming cottages in the estate, and you will continuously find new nooks and crannies at every turn in the hotel, a virtual playground to explore.
The luxury accommodation ranges from authentic medieval-style castle rooms to artisan accommodation in the Courtyard offering something suitable for all tastes. There are 12 bedrooms in the main Castle that include oversized suites to quaint attic rooms featuring large original fireplaces, private balconies as well as four-poster and canopy beds. No two rooms are the same, but all offer ensuite facilities.
The Courtyard is a restoration of the original Castle outhouses and working areas, and they have been completely transformed in the last decade. The bedrooms contain many original features such as exposed beams and stone walls, and they all have access to the stunning walled garden.
There are six Cottage Rooms located within the grounds, each benefiting from panoramic views of the surrounding woodlands. Each cottage contains 4 or 5 luxurious ensuite bedrooms and is stylish, warm and homely. There is also a 4-bedroom lodge which includes a kitchen/dining area and luxury living rooms. Furnishings are in keeping with the Castle and are perfect for those wanting the castle amenities and feel but require extra privacy.
Food lovers are well served at Cabra Castle with The Derby Bar and The Courtyard Restaurant in particular. The Derby Bar serves food throughout the day with a light dining menu. There is also the Drawing Room for Tea and Scones or guests can indulge in The Terrace which overlooks the gardens where you can enjoy your favorite tipple.
