Once we have the essential details of your golf trip finalized, such as tee times, your accommodation and your transportation, we will inevitably get into the minutiae. The old adage “the devil is in the detail” is all too true when it comes to making a golf trip one of the most memorable trips of your life. So, what other things might we discuss before your departure?
It’s prevalent for many of our guests to combine their golf trip with additional vacation time or indeed a business trip. As a result, we often help guests navigate their way through the plethora of budget airlines and national carriers, including their nuances and baggage restrictions, particularly in Europe. We can advise on flight connections, ferries between the UK & Ireland or Europe, train services, hire cars or helicopter transfers. You name it, and we’ll have experienced it at one time or another.
As airline hold baggage fees steadily increase and as lost and delayed luggage seemingly becomes the norm, we are encouraging more of our guests to consider shipping their golf clubs (and bags) ahead to their first destination to alleviate any potential issues or delays. Our preferred shipping partner is Luggage Forward, a Boston based business with an unrivaled track record which is the world’s leading door-to-door service provider. The service is superb, allowing guests to travel with an essential suitcase or in some cases hand luggage only.
In a simple 3-step process, Luggage Forward take care of all the paperwork, customs documentation, and transit requirements. Every shipment comes with an on-time guarantee or your money back and also with a $500 insurance that covers not only the contents of your bag but the bag itself. Protection can be increased if required. A logistic team follows every bag in transit to ensure that it arrives where and when it is due and regular updates are provided including full tracking. Shipment can be made in a single leg, a round trip of multi-leg and the standard transit times from the USA to Ireland is usually 5-days and to Ireland approximately 4 days.
We highly recommend their service to you because quite simply nobody wants to be standing on the 1st tee of The Old Course holding a set of rentals, right!!

Golf club hire
Some of our guests, in particular, our occasional or non-golfers, but also our short stay guests of 4 nights or less, will only play one or two days on the links. In those instances, if they choose not to bring their own clubs with them or even if they don’t own a set, we can arrange for club rentals to be provided for them. Happily, the days of turning up at a club to be handed a random 2nd hand set of golf clubs are long gone. Our partner courses will readily ask for as much detail about the golfer’s preferences as possible and will then try to match those as closely as possible to the most appropriate set of clubs for them. If the guest wishes, we can even provide rentals down to a specific shaft type, wedge lofts and on occasion, even specific manufacturers so long as we receive that information in advance.
If the guidance provided in this site is not enough reassurance for you, each and every one of our guests will be provided with a comprehensive pre-departure checklist that covers every other detail that you will need to consider when taking a golf vacation overseas. From currency to insurance, power supplies, and mobile data costs to GPS units and dress codes, you name it, and we will have an answer on it for you. Once you have digested all of the information we provide, trust us, you will be more than prepared for the journey ahead and ready to tee it up in the knowledge that everything has been taken care of.
